GENERATIONAL DIVERSITY IN ORGANIZATIONS
Thursday, November 19, 2015, at 9.30 am, Trento based Fondazione Bruno Kessler will be hosting a seminar with sociologist Chiara Saraceno at its location on via S. Croce 77
For the first time in history, we see today the simultaneous presence of a large number of different generations in the same workplace (from the now exiting “baby boomers”, to entering “millenials”). An unprecedented and complex scenario that requires ways of productive and effective coexistence between people, professional skills and competences characterized by many differences.
"Generations and innovations. Aging in organizations: dynamics, criticalities and opportunities". This is the title of the event organized by FBK, in collaboration with the Autonomous Province of Trento Government, AIDP - Italian Association for Staff Management, FGB - Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini and the media partnership of Il Sole 24 Ore.
Attitude and ethics, stability expectations, contractual conditions, organizational stress and job insecurity management, openness to changes, to lifelong learning, to flexibility and smart working, familiarity with new technologies. Given the momentum these trends are gaining in the workplace, the study session aims to contribute to the reflection on these issues, while offering practical insights to address the complexity of the changes underway.
The speakers will illustrate the personnel management policies of Fondazione Bruno Kessler and of the Autonomous Province of Trento Government and the talks by some of the leading experts in the field, will help understand and provide a contribution to the management of aging in the workplace.
Fabio Sgaragli, with Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini, will open the session by introducing the framework of global change, against which organizations are forced to measure themselves.
Sociologist Chiara Saraceno - expert in welfare, work-life balance, and changes in family policies - will analyze opportunities and constraints of the "generation mix". In her latest publication, "Il lavoro non basta” (Job is not enough), the researcher analyzed the difficult economic and social situation in the global crisis Europe, in which jobs, and welfare no longer seem sufficient to contain growing inequality and poverty.
Giovanni Vitale and Marco Crescimbeni, from the Italian Association of Personnel Management, will then shift the focus to the extension of working lives and the resulting dynamics on the management of human resources, particularly in public administration.
Alessandro Dalla Torre, head of the Personnel Department at FBK, and Barbara De Micheli (Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini) will illustrate FBK’s human resources development experiences and policies; the strategic plan of the human capital of the Autonomous Province of Trento will be the focus of the talks by Luca Comper (PAT) and Stefania Allegretti (PAT), while the secretary of CGIL Trentino, Franco Ianeselli, will present possible scenarios of collective bargaining.
The meeting moderator will be Valentina Chizzola, researcher specializing in diversity management and coordinator of the Work Ability and Ageing project at FBK. (m.l.)
